Austrian scientists synthesized harmless sugar. The product is a special form of natural sweetener (erythritol), which does not provoke the development of obesity and caries.
In general, erythritol has been known for a long time, however, its production was quite expensive. Scientists were able to significantly simplify and cheapen the process. In particular, the chemical properties of a particular type of mold were used to obtain erythritol. The resulting sweetener sweets by 80% corresponds to the usual sugar.
