Fried tomatoes with garlic in cheese batter
The most popular appetizer among housewives is fried tomatoes with garlic in cheese batter. This dish will appeal to even children who are not very "friendly" with vegetables: they are guaranteed to be delighted with crispy cheese crust. The batter, in which the vegetable is fried, gives the dish not only a fantastic taste, but also an additional satiety.
- two fleshy dense tomatoes;
- two tablespoons of sour cream (it is better to take a thick one);
- one egg;
- 60-80 grams of hard cheese;
- garlic to taste (3-4 cloves);
- salt, pepper, ground paprika, favorite spices - one third of a teaspoon;
- two to three tablespoons of vegetable oil.
Prepare a batter: beat the egg with sour cream, add finely shredded cheese, if you want, add a little salt. Please note: flour is not used in this recipe, therefore cheese is the main “astringent” component. You can mix several varieties of cheese, for example, classic Dutch and mozzarella (it will give an extra creamy touch). Such a batter may not be well kept on a wet slice of a tomato slice, so a rather large spoon should be used for putting tomato slices in the pan.
Dry washed tomatoes, cut into rings. Some housewives peel the tomato from the tomato before cutting the vegetable into slices. To do this, the tomato should be scalded with boiling water or, for literally one or two seconds, pour boiling water, after which the skin can be easily separated from the pulp. Sprinkle the cooked circles gently with salt, spices, grated garlic. Dip the tomato ring in the cooked batter, scoop it up with a spoon with the cheese dough and put it on a hot frying pan. The more cheese batter fits in a spoon, the better. Fry on both sides until a crust appears, adding batter over tomatoes if necessary. To reduce calorie content, you can put fried tomatoes with garlic on a napkin to get rid of excess fat. You can serve both hot and cold.
